A: This shelving unit will hold up to 60lbs of what is called book weight. This refers to typical books on a shelf that are evenly distributed. If you were to put the 60lbs all on the center of the shelf than that would cause a slight bend in the shelf over a period of time.

I bought the largest 84" tall model. Bookcase [...]is very heavy, and the truckers are only obligated to deliver curbside. In my opinion, the bookcase is of too flimsy a construction to withstand a cross-country delivery involving several transfer points - which was the case here. This bookcase cost about twice as much as a similar sized one from Staples, but it isn't twice the quality.
