You would think this desk is simplicity itself until you see the tapered legs. The Tribeca Loft Cherry Laptop Computer Desk by Kathy Ireland is full of surprises. While this desk is the perfect place to store a laptop, the pull-out center drawer is an excellent place to put the keyboard of a desktop computer. It seems to be unassuming until you notice that the piece is finished in exotic burnt-umber cherry from top to bottom. It seems complicated, but those stylish, tapered legs are easy to attach and detach if the desk needs to be moved. In other words, perfection is in its simplicity. The desk is made of cherry/elm wood solids, a combination of cherry and elm; and cherry veneers, a thin layer of cherry attached to a stronger "mixed" piece of wood for strength and durability.

Martin Furniture was founded in 1980 by Gil Martin in the San Diego suburb of El Cajon. Martin started the company in his garage with $400, a Craftsman table saw, and the business knowledge he gained from working for defense contractor, General Dynamics. The company specializes in American-made and -imported office and home entertainment furniture, as well as the furniture designs for the Kathy Ireland Home Collection. Martin has one factory in San Diego and one in Mexico. It also imports from Taiwan and China.
